Duque – vermittelt

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Duque has a noble name, and he certainly lives up to it, for our wonderful foal-eyed fellow is very noble and majestic. Duque resides in the care of our new friends at Huellas Serranas, a small animal shelter near Huelva. When Duque was entrusted to the animal welfare workers, the muscular powerhouse that today frolics happily with its friends in the run was a picture of misery. The nearly hundred-pound male dog had a broken hip and was marked by pain. When a large dog undergoes surgery on such an important joint, prognosis is always difficult, but Duque has surpassed all positive expectations. Anyone who sees our two-and-a-half-year-old charmer play today or meets him on a walk would never guess the story behind the handsome and very obedient Mastin-Mix. Although Duque currently shows no impairment, we would wish for him a home with not too many stairs, and a garden would be – as for all our gentle giants – important. Duque is a big cuddly bear who loves people above all else and gets along well with his four-legged buddies. Despite his size and strength, his wonderful character is impressive, and anyone adopting a herdschutzhund must be aware of the responsibility this step entails. If you speak to owners of Spanish Mastin-Mixes, you will hear many voices (mine included) reporting that these special four-legged friends tend to retain the temperament of a puppy until the age of fourteen. On the other hand, there is the inherent watchfulness of the breed, the unbridled will to protect the family (which includes small pets and indoor plants), and the total devotion to the most important people in life. So, anyone who falls in love with our sculpturally beautiful model athlete should bring not only love for large-eyed dogs but also a lot of humor, flexibility, and not least breed knowledge (which can be acquired in HSH-experienced dog schools). A herdschutzhund is always associated with a great deal of responsibility – and a lot of love, tenderness, loyalty, and the promise that you cannot have a purer and more open heart by your side. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About Duque – vermittelt

What life with Duque – vermittelt looks like

Duque – vermittelt is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Duque – vermittelt, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Duque – vermittelt?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Duque – vermittelt on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Duque – vermittelt if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Duque – vermittelt already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Duque – vermittelt isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Duque – vermittelt and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
