Dylan

Dachshund Β· Male Β· Adult Β· 6 years

I can live with calm, older children who are sensible and allow me time to settle. I will need a kind resident dog to take me under their wing. I have never met cats. I would like a secure garden to spend time in. I’ve never been on walks before and will need a gentle introduction. I have never lived in a home so I will need help to learn house training. I am missing most of my teeth, and have a cyst on the left side of my jaw. 06-11-26 Dylan is a sweet and gentle boy who has come into our care from a breeder and is still finding his confidence in the big wide world. He can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but he doesn't take long to warm up once he has spent a little time getting to know you. Before long, he will happily lean in for a gentle cuddle and enjoy some affection. Dylan relies on his kennel friends for comfort and will need at least one kind resident dog in the home he can look to as he settles in. He has never lived in a home before, so he will need patient and understanding adopters who can help him learn all about home life, including house training and walking on a lead. He can live with older, dog-savvy children who are calm and understad he is a nervous boy and will need time to settle in. His adopters will need to have ex-breeder experience, to better understand his needs. Dylan is a lovely boy with so much to give, and he is just waiting for someone to help him find his paws and discover how wonderful life can be. Dylan has come to us missing most of his teeth and will need a soft diet to keep him comfortable. He has a cyst on the left side of his jaw that is actively reducing, and is being monitored by the vets for any future treatment he may need. Dylan has a travel document. Dylan has been given the Gift of Life by Hattie Corteen Through the generosity of a Gift of Life sponsor, this dog was able to leave behind an uncertain future in Ireland and find safety and care at Many Tears. Every sponsorship helps us rescue and save more dogs in desperate need. If you would like to become part of a rescue story, please consider donating to our Gift of Life fund. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Dylan

What life with Dylan looks like

Dylan is a large adult dachshund dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Dylan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Dylan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Dylan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Dylan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Dylan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Dylan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Dylan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
