Lola

Dachshund Β· Female Β· Young Β· 1 year

I can live with older dog-savvy children who understand I need time to settle in. I need a resident dog to help me settle in and I have never met cats. I would like a secure garden to spend time in. I’ve never been on walks before and will need a gentle introduction. I have never lived in a home so I will need help to learn house training. I am spayed and ready to find my forever home. 06-11-26 Lola is a sweet and gentle lady who has come into our care from a breeder and is still finding her confidence around people. She can be a little cautious when approaching you, but once she is safely in your arms, she settles nicely and is easy to handle. Lola seems more shy and unsure than particularly worried, and with a little patience and reassurance, we think she will soon begin to blossom. She will need at least one kind and confident resident dog in her new home who she can lean on for comfort and guidance as she learns all about the routines of home life. Lola has never lived in a home before, so her adopters will need to be understanding as she learns about house training and all the new experiences that come with being part of a family. She will also need to learn how to walk on a lead, but this should be introduced gently and at a pace she is comfortable with. She can live with older, dog-savvy children who understand she needs time to settle in. Her adopters will need to have experience with ex-breeders to better understand her needs. Lola is a wonderful little lady who just needs a loving home, a little patience and someone to help her find her paws in the big wide world. Lola has a travel document. Lola has been given the Gift of Life by Elaine Richards Through the generosity of a Gift of Life sponsor, this dog was able to leave behind an uncertain future in Ireland and find safety and care at Many Tears. Every sponsorship helps us rescue and save more dogs in desperate need. If you would like to become part of a rescue story, please consider donating to our Gift of Life fund. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Lola

What life with Lola looks like

Lola is a large young adult dachshund dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in United Kingdom.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible β€” a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lola, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lola?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lola on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lola if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Lola already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lola isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lola and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
