EDDY

Rottweiler · Male

Eddy, born mid-2020 and neutered, is a strong-willed Rottweiler male who is affectionate and attached to his caregivers. He currently weighs 45 kg at a shoulder height of 65 cm. He is initially wary of strangers and needs time to build trust. It is important not to pressure him and allow him to initiate contact. Once he has built trust, he is very good at orienting himself towards his caregiver and seeks cooperation with his human. He gets along well with female dogs. With male dogs, it depends on their compatibility. On a leash, he generally encounters other dogs in a curious and observant manner. However, if he lacks necessary guidance, he can react to very excitable dogs. Therefore, confident and clear guidance is particularly important for Eddy. In everyday life, Eddy is environmentally stable and confident. Cars, cyclists, joggers, and passersby pose no problem for him. He also shows little interest in other animals, and no hunting tendencies have been observed. Eddy knows the common basic commands such as sit and stay. He walks very well on a leash and has a reliable recall. Particularly positive is his strong orientation towards his dog handler. With the right guidance, Eddy is a reliable and pleasant companion in everyday life. We are looking for people with corresponding experience who are mentally and physically up to the task. We assume experience with Rottweilers. Eddy needs clear structures, confident guidance, and a stable environment in which he can orient himself safely. People who give him this security and guidance will have a dog by their side who will bond closely with his caregiver and work well with his human. In his new home, there should be no children, other dogs, or additional animals. We are looking for an experienced, responsible home for Eddy that understands his needs, provides the necessary guidance, and is willing to build a trusting and reliable relationship with him. Since Eddy is classified as a Category II list dog in Bavaria, the new owner should inform themselves about the conditions for keeping such dogs with their local authority in advance.

DE·Show original

-0Fax: 089/90 73 20E-Mail

About EDDY

What life with EDDY looks like

EDDY is a adult rottweiler dog waiting at Tierschutzverein München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting EDDY, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about EDDY?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein München handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw EDDY on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt EDDY if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein München will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is EDDY already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if EDDY isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein München early rather than rehoming privately; they know EDDY and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
