Elfa

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Elfa has found a home! Her story: 26810 Westoverledingen. Elfa was able to travel to her foster home in March. Elfa is a cute little puppy with brown fur and a black snout. As befits her 4 months, the little mouse trots around joyfully, openly, and interestedly, exploring the surroundings and discovering the world. The social female dog currently lives on a Romanian sanctuary with around 100 other animals. There, she patiently waits for her ticket to a new life! She knows life with cats, small animals, dogs, and children. She is very taken with all new things and brings a lot of joy. She will likely remain a small size. The little female dog knows almost nothing and therefore has a lot to learn. House training, leash manners, and basic obedience training are still on the agenda. That's why we are looking for people for Elfa who are not expecting much from her and are ready to work patiently and lovingly with her. It's also important to keep in mind that Elfa's puberty is still on the horizon. A time of changes and developments, in which young dogs often test boundaries. It's important that her future people are consistent and loving as she navigates through this phase and grows into a confident female dog. Elfa would be very happy to attend a dog or puppy class. After a positive assessment, she will be microchipped, dewormed, and given an EU pet passport. She would also be thrilled with a loving foster home! Has Elfa managed to make your heart beat a little faster? We look forward to your inquiry! Many thanks, Silke! You have given Elfa a name and thus an identity! Date: 21.03.

About Elfa

What life with Elfa looks like

Elfa is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Elfa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Elfa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Elfa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Elfa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Elfa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Elfa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Elfa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
