Eli is a sweet, older Labrador lady with a gentle nature and a lot of love to give. Officially, she's called Lizzy, but there was already another Lizzy at DOA. From Lizzy, we went to Elizabeth, because that's nice and classy, and then it became Eli. That's why. My life changed recently. My owner passed away, and that's why I'm at DOA, looking for a nice place to spend my golden years. Luckily, I'm a real Labrador: friendly, loyal, cozy, and crazy about people. I grew up with grandchildren, so I'm used to the hustle and bustle. I'm neatly house-trained. Since I'm getting older, it's possible that I need to go potty more often. But otherwise, I'm a easy girl to live with. If the doorbell rings, don't worry about a loud concert: I don't bark at that. I also love car rides! I like to go on adventures and I'm not car sick. And my big love... balls! I'm really crazy about them. I can hold multiple balls at once. And don't worry: I'm not a destroyer. My balls stay intact. I also love swimming. Water and Labrador, that's a great combination! As is fitting for an older lady, I need to take care of my body. My joints aren't as flexible as they used to be, so I need pain medication for the rest of my life. That helps me feel good. Exercise is important for me, but my activities and walks need to be adjusted to what my body can handle. No wild adventures, but just enjoying the ride at my own pace. I may not be the young, energetic Labrador I used to be, but that's why I hope for a warm place where someone sees the beauty in me. A sweet girl who loves her people, enjoys small things, loves her balls, and loves to swim.

Hoi, ik ben Eli. Een lieve, oudere Labrador dame met een zacht karakter en een heleboel liefde om te geven. Officieel heet ik Lizzy, maar er was al een andere Lizzy bij DOA. Van Lizzy gingen we naar Elizabeth, want dat is lekker chique en toen werd het Eli. Nou vandaar dus. Mijn leven veranderde onlangs behoorlijk. Mijn baasje is overleden en daarom ben ik bij DOA gebracht, op zoek naar een fijne plek waar ik mijn gouden jaren mag doorbrengen. Gelukkig ben ik een echte Labrador: vriendelijk, trouw, gezellig en dol op mensen. Ik ben opgegroeid met kleinkinderen en ben het dus gewend dat er gezelligheid om me heen is. Ik ben thuis netjes zindelijk. Omdat ik inmiddels een dagje ouder ben, kan het natuurlijk wel zijn dat ik wat vaker een plasmomentje nodig heb. Maar verder ben ik een makkelijke dame in huis. Als de deurbel gaat, hoef je niet bang te zijn voor een luid concert: ik blaf daar niet van op. Ook autorijden vind ik prima! Ik ga graag mee op pad en ben gelukkig niet wagenziek. En dan mijn grote liefde… ballen! Ik ben er echt gek op. Sterker nog, ik kan er gerust meerdere tegelijk vasthouden. En wees gerust: ik ben geen sloper. Mijn ballen blijven gewoon heel. Zwemmen vind ik trouwens óók fantastisch. Water en Labrador, dat is wat mij betreft een gouden combinatie! Zoals het een dame op leeftijd betaamt, moet er natuurlijk wel een beetje rekening gehouden worden met mijn lijf. Mijn gewrichten zijn niet meer zo soepel als vroeger en daarom krijg ik de rest van mijn leven pijnstilling. Dat helpt mij om me prettig te voelen. Beweging is voor mij zeker belangrijk, maar mijn activiteiten en wandelingen moeten worden afgestemd op wat mijn lichaam aankan. Geen wilde avonturen dus, maar lekker samen op pad in een tempo dat bij mij past. Ik ben misschien niet meer de jonge, onstuimige Labrador die ik ooit was, maar juist daarom hoop ik zo op een warme plek waar iemand ziet hoeveel moois er nog in mij zit. Een lieve meid die graag bij haar mensen is, geniet van kleine dingen, dol is op haar ballen en het liefst nog regelmatig het water in duikt.
