Ellie schön und selbstbewusst

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 10 years

I am female, neutered, microchipped, and born in 2014. I am approximately 60cm tall. I have been waiting since March 2016 for a new home. My caretakers say about me: Ellie is a surrender dog from the surrounding area. Unfortunately, like so often, she was not properly reported and, upon closer inspection, was from an illegal litter according to current laws. Since she no longer got along with the existing pack as she matured, she was kept separately. What made the conflict no smaller, consistent training at the right time would have been a better alternative. Ellie, according to her previous owners, has never seriously injured anyone, although attempts at socialization with male dogs have not been successful either, at least leaving both dogs unsupervised was considered too unsafe. So, the decision was made to find a single placement with our help, where her problem can be worked on in a relaxed and measured way. If one offers Ellie a single placement, she is an absolute dream dog. She likes people of all ages and sizes, and while she is naturally a bit of a show-off when greeting, it is more due to her effusive joy. She also needs work on her lead manners, but Ellie responds well to training sessions. Basic obedience is present but can be improved. Of course, Ellie has a prey drive, so other animals should not be in her new home. She is vigilant and shows interest in visitors and passing animals. Ellie has successfully completed her first group walks with other dogs at an appropriate distance. She can stay alone for a few hours and is a fairly good companion on car rides; she just likes to be included. She loves fetch games, dropping the toy at her feet to continue playing after doing a show round. She can also be trained to excel at search tasks. We wish for Ellie a home with a house and garden, where the property is appropriately secure and fenced high so that Ellie can also run and play off-leash. Ellie's potential owners must meet some legal requirements, and if there is serious interest, we are happy to advise them.

DE·Show original

About Ellie schön und selbstbewusst

What life with Ellie schön und selbstbewusst looks like

Ellie schön und selbstbewusst is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Schkortitz in Grimma.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ellie schön und selbstbewusst, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ellie schön und selbstbewusst?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Schkortitz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ellie schön und selbstbewusst on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ellie schön und selbstbewusst if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Schkortitz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ellie schön und selbstbewusst already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ellie schön und selbstbewusst isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Schkortitz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ellie schön und selbstbewusst and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
