Adopt Fanni

Mixed Breed · Unknown

In June 2022, Carmen, who maintains Carpen farm, was driving to the farm when suddenly, in the middle of the fields far from villages and settlements, she saw a motionless figure. Since finding sick dogs is almost daily routine in Romania, Carmen immediately knew she couldn't leave it uninvestigated. Therefore, she stopped and, upon approaching, saw that the figure was an extremely thin and emaciated dog. The female dog, named Flor, was too weak to move. On the way to the vet, she nibbled grass, which she had probably eaten desperately while starving on the field. Flor was first treated at the vet and, once sufficiently recovered, was moved to the shelter kennel, where treatment continued. Gradually, Flor's condition improved and she began to gain weight. Despite everything, Flor remained a very thin patient and it was therefore a huge surprise when, some weeks later, five newborn puppies were found with her. She had already been pregnant and, instead of one, Carmen had actually rescued six lucky ones that hot summer day. Flor and her puppies Fanni, Frans, Florian, Fiona and Frida are still waiting at Carpen shelter kennel. The puppies have grown up in the shelter kennel and it is understandable that everything is fascinating and exciting for them. Fanni is the runt of the litter. He does indeed eagerly sniff around visitors and eats treats from visitors' hands, but he easily startles and retreats further away to observe the situation. He also has a habit of softly whining if the situation becomes too stressful or annoying.

Fanni on pentueen ujommasta päästä.

About Fanni

What life with Fanni looks like

Fanni is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Embla Rescue in Helsinki.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fanni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fanni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Embla Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fanni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fanni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Embla Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Fanni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fanni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Embla Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fanni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
