Fig

Bichon Frisé · Female · Adult · 5 years

I’d like a home filled with love and kindness! I need a doggy friend in my new home. I haven’t met cats so I’m unsure. I'd like a secure garden to potter around in. I haven't tried walks yet, a secure garden will be fine for now. Please be patient with me, I need to learn house training and lead walking. I have been spayed & have had 1 tooth removed. Read below for more! 27-10-26 Fig is a lovely, sweet girl who has come into our care from a breeder in search of a new start. She has a shy little demeanour but is not a particularly scared girl. Fig will gently approach us for a sniff and seems to really want to be our friend, even if she is not quite brave enough to take things any further just yet. With a little time and encouragement, we hope she will become more comfortable and let us see more of her lovely personality. Fig gets on wonderfully with her kennel friends and relies on their company for comfort, so she will need a kind resident dog in her new home to help guide her and give her the reassurance she needs as she settles in and finds her paws. As Fig has never lived in a home before, she will need to learn all about house training, lead training and the other basics of home life. Her new family will need to be patient and give her time to adjust to her new surroundings and learn at her own pace. Fig is a gentle girl who seems keen to make friends, and we hope that with the support of a reassuring canine companion and a loving family, she will grow in confidence and discover how lovely life in a home can be. Fig has had one tooth removed at the time of her spay and is receiving medicated baths for sore skin. Fig has been given the Gift of Life by Hilary Thomas Through the generosity of a Gift of Life sponsor, this dog was able to leave behind an uncertain future in Ireland and find safety and care at Many Tears. Every sponsorship helps us rescue and save more dogs in desperate need. If you would like to become part of a rescue story, please consider donating to our Gift of Life fund. This dog can be homed with a resident dog.

About Fig

What life with Fig looks like

Fig is an adult bichon frisé dog waiting at Many Tears Animal Rescue in United Kingdom.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Fig, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Fig?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Many Tears Animal Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Fig on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Fig if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Many Tears Animal Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Fig already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Fig isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Many Tears Animal Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Fig and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
