Foka

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 2 months

Foka is a young, 2-year-old, large (45kg), cheerful and healthy female dog who despite a difficult past has retained great warmth and a good spirit. She was abandoned, but now is full of trust, gentle with people and feels great among other dogs. She loves petting, play, walks and later lazy rest in a quiet place. She sometimes gets a bit wild, especially in larger groups. With a calm caretaker she quickly remembers the rules of doggy savoir-vivre. She very much likes cats, so she can live with them. She handles car trips well. Foka will best find her place in a home where she finds a balance between calm and shared mischief with people and dogs. She is a young, cheerful, nice female dog who will surely win the heart of her human, as well as her canine housemates. What conditions is Foka looking for? - a home outside the city - daily free walks in nature - dog company - nice, calm people - healthy, natural food - a comfortable bed at home and access to the garden when she feels like it. If you can offer her these conditions and love her for the rest of her life, please call:

About Foka

What life with Foka looks like

Foka is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Foka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Foka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Foka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Foka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Foka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Foka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Foka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
