Adopt Frida

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 10 years

Frida – a gentle soul searching for her happiness. Frida is a charming, 10-year-old female dog whose heart has never stopped beating lovingly despite a difficult start in life. She was accidentally discovered on a deserted lot that she shared with two other dogs. Only a kind-hearted neighbor who regularly brought them food gave them a spark of security – three souls, free but completely on their own. When we found Frida, she was quietly fighting breast cancer. For us, it was immediately clear: we wanted to give her a real chance. She was operated on, spayed, and completely freed from the tumors. Today she has excellent blood values and an excellent prognosis – ready to finally enjoy her life healthy, hopeful, and without pain. From the very first moment, you can tell that Frida knows how to live with people. She easily adapts, is calm and friendly, curious and full of joy for life. She loves exploring the world, meeting other dogs to play, and absorbing every small bit of attention. Every gesture, every look from her shows: Frida is grateful – and ready to open her heart again. What she now still lacks for complete happiness is a home where she is loved. Frida is 10 years old, spayed, healthy, and about 50 cm tall – a wonderful companion for people who want to give a piece of their hearts to a gentle, warm-hearted soul. Perhaps you are exactly the person who will finally give Frida the home she so much deserves. The animals are described as they behave in the animal shelter or in the foster home. This behavior does not appear immediately upon arrival. Some also react with shyness at first to the new situation. Animals from the animal protection all have a past that was usually not nice or cruel. This past cannot be shaken off overnight. They need time to be allowed to arrive and to build trust. Please be patient and give your animal the necessary time!

About Frida

What life with Frida looks like

Frida is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina in Berlin.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Frida, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Frida?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Frida on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Frida if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Frida already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Frida isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Aegean Dogs e.V. / FAZA Aegina early rather than rehoming privately; they know Frida and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
