Voor Gaston zoeken we een thuis waar hij niet naar buiten kan. Karakter en achtergrond van de kat: Gaston kwam in november bij ons in de opvang terecht. Hij was er erg slecht aan toe: hij kwam van een boerderij, was graatmager (hij woog amper 2,5 kg) en meer dan doodziek. Het was al snel duidelijk dat Gaston een zware strijd te leveren had. Hij was futloos, slap en ademde erg moeilijk. Met veel liefde, geduld en de juiste medicatie geraakte hij er beetje bij beetje bovenop. Uit zijn bloedonderzoek bleek bovendien dat hij FIV-positief (kattenaids) heeft, wat zijn herstel er natuurlijk niet makkelijker op maakte. Vanwege zijn ademhalings- en slikproblemen heeft Gaston meerdere specialisten bezocht. We gaven niet op! Uiteindelijk is een deel van zijn strottenhoofd weggelaserd, daardoor is zijn ademhaling toch iets beter. Helemaal perfect zal het nooit worden, maar Gaston is inmiddels superactief en heeft er zelf geen last meer van. Als hij spint, klinkt hij simpelweg als een luid ronkende motor! Ondertussen is hij in gewicht verdubbeld. Gaston is getransformeerd tot een kloeke beer die dol is op knuffelen, spelen en gezelschap. Nieuw bezoek over de vloer? Gaston gooit zich meteen op zijn rug zodat je zijn buikje kunt aaien! Spelen doet hij trouwens als de beste: het liefst ligt hij languit op de grond te hengelen naar zijn speeltjes. Gaston bloeit helemaal op in het gezelschap van andere katten. Het zou daarom ideaal zijn als hij geplaatst wordt bij een andere sociale, jonge en FIV-positieve kat. Dit is echter geen must, zolang zijn nieuwe baasjes hem veel aandacht kunnen geven en hij hen overal mag volgen. Omdat hij kattenaids (FIV) heeft, kan hij niet naar buiten. Gelukkig mist hij dat niet zolang hij binnenshuis voldoende entertainment en aandacht krijgt. Alle katten zijn ontvlooid, ontwormd, gevaccineerd, gesteriliseerd, gechipt en geregistreerd. Voor FIV-positieve katten vragen we een verminderde bijdrage van €100. Adoptieprocedure: Er wordt eerst telefonisch nagegaan of er een goede match kan zijn tussen jou en de kat, nadien kan een afspraak gemaakt worden voor een bezoekje zodat jullie met elkaar kunnen kennis maken. Bij adoptie wordt een adoptiecontract getekend en de adoptiebijdrage wordt betaald bij het afhalen van de kat. Iedere kat vertrekt met een Europees paspoort.
