Adopt German-3

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 7 years

Native Country: Ukraine The handsome German came to Menhely on April 2, 2023. Originally, he was rescued by a German association from Ukraine and brought to safety in Hungary. Unfortunately, his past is not known beyond this point. Since then, he has been sitting in the animal shelter in Kecskemét, waiting for a positive change in his life. We cannot change his past, but his future is very dear to us, and we are hoping that German will soon have the chance to win his ticket to happiness. According to his passport, he was born in 2019, but the animal shelter in Kecskemét estimates him to be over 10 years old. German is a loving and friendly dogman, initially a bit shy, who would like to have his own people to go on discovery trips with. He loves cuddles and enjoys when someone gives him time and attention, which was likely a lack in his previous life. His new two-legged family should be happy to patiently teach German everything he needs to know from the dog ABC, so he can continue to develop into a great companion. German would be just as happy with proper dog care as with lots of "quality time" with his new family. That no simple time lies behind German can be seen from his bad or missing teeth, and he has a scar over his left eye and left shoulder. German has no problems with his fellow animals but lives alone in a kennel. (As of November 4, 2024) For our dearest German, we urgently seek loving and dog-loving people who will love him as he is. Give him all the love, care, and security he likely hasn't experienced before. Beautiful walks, lots of cuddles, a soft, warm, and protected sleeping place, fine food, and people who will walk with him on his further life path, is what German wishes from the bottom of his heart. A charming four-legged friend seeks family connection! German is ready for travel. A big thank you to Stefan Funariu for taking over the patronage of German.

About German-3

What life with German-3 looks like

German-3 is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting German-3, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about German-3?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw German-3 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt German-3 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is German-3 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if German-3 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know German-3 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
