Adopt Gibson

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Hometown: Hungary The pretty Gibson was found alone wandering outside Kecskemét on a highway on March 17, 2024, and reported to the animal shelter. Thankfully, he was safely secured without any injuries, and one can only imagine what could have happened… For us completely incomprehensible, but no one asked for Gibson, and the shelter staff gave him this name. He now sits in one of the shelter enclosures and waits for the kennel door to finally open again, so he can start a new life and enjoy many beautiful moments with his new people. Gibson is a fine fellow, a bit shy at first in the first few minutes, but warms up with cuddles and kind words and is happy when he gets attention and affection, having much to make up for. He is a loving, friendly, and nice fellow, very attached to us two-legged beings, who now wants to explore the world together with his people. Walking on a leash, he already does a great job, and with loving guidance, he will certainly soon master the rest of the dog training. In any case, Gibson will surely be a great companion for his new people and it will be a joy to spend time with him and teach him a few tricks. He gets along well with his fellow animals, but "unfortunately," he likes to climb, and to prevent him from running away, he sits alone in a secure pen. For our charming Gibson, we are looking for enthusiastic dog lovers and a loving home. Gibson deserves the chance to move as a cherished friend among people and to make up for all that he would love to learn: joyful walks, dog-appropriate exercise, love, security, care, daily cuddles, and 100% family connection. A home where he is cared for and loved, and where he can enjoy his life carefree and without worry. On July 5, 2024, a voluntary Hungarian helper wrote: "We had the opportunity to meet Gibson at a mentor day. He was allowed to go on a fascinating and interesting walk with his mentor. At the beginning of the walk, Gibson snuggled up to his mentor. Despite the great opportunity to move around and sniff outside his pen, he just wanted to be stroked, pampered, and cuddled. He is an extremely affectionate, people-oriented, friendly, sweet, and loving dog. He walks well on a leash, listens to his dog handler, and wants to please. Gibson looks forward to his new, responsible, and caring owner. He wants to be part of the family and move into a safe, permanent home. He wishes for mental stimulation and care for his body and soul. He wants to be as much a part of his family as possible and hopes for beautiful shared experiences, long walks, and playful activities. He asks for guided training and patience during the adjustment period. He wishes to be loved as much as his new people will love him. Good luck, dear Gibson." On October 2, 2025, a voluntary, Hungarian helper wrote: "Gibson came into the care of the shelter in March 2024. We can meet him at mentor days. His mentor gives him a fascinating and eventful walk every Saturday. Gibson is a loving, friendly, and trusting dog. A people-oriented and child-loving, kind-hearted companion. He is affection-starved, even during the walk, it is the most important for him to be stroked and caressed. He walks well on a leash, is attentive, and enthusiastic. Happiest of all when he can be near people. Loyal, clingy, open, and receptive to new and beautiful things. The goodbye at the end of each walk is hard. Gibson eagerly awaits these walks and the loving mentors. Waiting in his pen is hard for him." Whose heart may Gibson give? Gibson is ready to travel. In the name of Gibson, we thank Irina Morell warmly for taking over the sponsorship.

About Gibson

What life with Gibson looks like

Gibson is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Gibson, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Gibson?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Gibson on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Gibson if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Gibson already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Gibson isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Gibson and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
