adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! GÜNni has found a home! His story: Our GÜNni is a real heartbreaker. Anyone who joins him and gives his gentle soul attention is instantly captivated by his dreamy gaze and feels his greatest wish, to finally arrive in a safe home. The cuddly and attentive GÜNni had already found a home in Romania, but his dream of love and security burst like a soap bubble because Günnie’s family had to go abroad for work – and our fairytale prince was left behind. Shackled on a chain, he led a lonely existence until our animal welfare workers took his fate into their hands. Currently, he is in a foster home, but he still has to live on a chain. That’s why we are desperately searching for a beautiful home for GÜNni, because he so deserves a happy ending. With a height of 55 cm and a current weight of 18 kg, the cuddly mop of fur belongs to the medium-sized dogs. GÜNni should therefore be allowed to enjoy plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Since his life on the chain severely restricts his freedom of movement, it is even more important that his human or family takes great joy in long walks and small adventures, because GÜNni is a young dog who wants to experience something – for example, sniffing, running, or playing! A confident fellow animal could very well be waiting for him in Günnie’s new home, because he gets along well with other furred friends. Whether GÜNni also likes cats, we currently do not know. Has our friendly, cuddly, and weathered GÜNni already snuggled into your heart? He can pack his bag in mid-March and bring his EU pet passport with him. A sheltered foster home would of course also make the so cute GÜNni very happy. We thank the Schmitz family very warmly for giving our GÜNni this wonderful, fitting name and thus the chance at great happiness. As of: 14.02. This animal is vaccinated. This animal is microchipped.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 14.02.2026

About GÜNni

What life with GÜNni looks like

GÜNni is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting GÜNni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about GÜNni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw GÜNni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt GÜNni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is GÜNni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if GÜNni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know GÜNni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
