Happy Pride! Marsha & Josephine

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

When Marsha and Josephine came to me, they already had a somewhat strange story behind them. Both were allegedly taken in due to poor husbandry, but despite that, they were not taken to the vet, not neutered, and not vaccinated – due to a lack of funds. And apparently, they were not really part of their new family either, because when this family moved away, the two were not allowed to go. A quick solution had to be found: The two were to be put up for adoption online, and when no one came forward, we were asked. It was high time to put an end to all the back-and-forth and find the two a nice, permanent home. But first, a few things were still missing: We got their vaccinations up to date, both were neutered (with a small scar still visible), and the most important thing: The two needed names! Although the two are already three years old, they had no names. So, friends were asked, suggestions were made, and then it was decided: It’s Pride Month! Therefore, the two now bear names honoring two black, queer women to give them and themselves a bit more attention: The calmer Marsha after Marsha P. Johnson and the more energetic Josephine after Josephine Baker. Now, nothing stands in the way of a new, proper home! Both are absolutely easy to care for, very cuddly, and already know dogs. Josephine is a bit more reserved at the beginning but also demands her cuddles. Marsha loves having her belly rubbed and sleeps at the foot of the bed every night. Both are very curious and climb onto every shelf and into every corner. Good window and balcony safety is a must for them. They would also be happy with a walk. In short: They are absolute dream cats, bringing everything with them and not at all showing that they haven’t had so much luck before. It would be so wonderful if they found their luck with you now. This animal was surrendered to the shelter. This cat needs outdoor access.

About Happy Pride! Marsha & Josephine

What life with Happy Pride! Marsha & Josephine looks like

Happy Pride! Marsha & Josephine is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Katzenhilfe Stuttgart e.V..

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Happy Pride! Marsha & Josephine, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Happy Pride! Marsha & Josephine?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Katzenhilfe Stuttgart e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Happy Pride! Marsha & Josephine on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Happy Pride! Marsha & Josephine if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Katzenhilfe Stuttgart e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Happy Pride! Marsha & Josephine already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Happy Pride! Marsha & Josephine isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Katzenhilfe Stuttgart e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Happy Pride! Marsha & Josephine and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
