Holly

Pomeranian · Female · Senior · 9 years

Meet Holly! Holly is looking for a special retirement home to spend her golden years. Don’t let her age fool you – Holly is still an active little lady and certainly knows how to keep the staff on their toes! She absolutely loves attention and fuss and is happiest when she is getting plenty of love and affection from her people. Holly can be a little vocal when she is in her kennel, but this is very much her way of letting everyone know she is there and hoping for some attention. She also has a wonderfully playful side and particularly enjoys chasing the hose pipe when staff are cleaning her kennel – clearly, she thinks helping with the cleaning is great fun! She enjoys going out for her walks and is good on the lead, making her a lovely little walking companion. For her age, Holly is surprisingly active and enjoys getting out and about. Holly has an old injury to her back leg, but thankfully it does not currently cause her any problems and doesn’t stop her enjoying her walks or getting on with life. As she gets older, she may potentially benefit from some pain relief or extra support for her joints, so her new family will need to be mindful of this and keep an eye on her mobility. What Holly needs now is a loving retirement home where she can be spoiled, cherished and enjoy all the little things she loves – comfy beds, gentle walks, plenty of fuss and of course, someone who doesn’t mind a little bit of Holly’s chatter. She is a very sweet little girl with plenty of personality and deserves to spend her retirement surrounded by love. Holly has interacted with other dogs while in our care, and she isn’t too bothered with them so we feel she would be best rehomed as the only dog in the home where she can get 100% of the love and attention. As Holly came into the home as a stray, we have no previous history on her, so would prefer any children in the home to be 14+ years.

About Holly

What life with Holly looks like

Holly is a small senior pomeranian dog waiting at Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) in Manchester.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Holly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Holly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Holly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Holly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Holly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Holly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Manchester) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Holly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
