Hunter

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Hunter came to our shelter with the two female dogs Dahlia and Camilia. The three dogs were given up by their previous owners and got a chance for a new beginning. We don't know what they experienced in their previous lives, but one thing is clear: they lacked close contact with humans and many experiences that are self-evident for other dogs. Hunter is the most courageous of the three dogs. He gains more confidence every day with his caregivers and increasingly shows how friendly and loving a dog he is. He meets familiar people openly and interestedly and develops further with each positive experience. As long as strangers approach his kennel, he currently still shows dominance. We have the impression that he wants to protect Dahlia and Camilia. As soon as he is outside the kennel without his two ladies, he shows himself as a calm, gentle giant who just needs some time to arrive. Once he has gained trust, he enjoys the closeness of his people and orients himself more and more towards them. The walking on a leash is currently being practiced and here too he already makes good progress. We wish Hunter a quiet and patient home where he can arrive at his own pace without pressure. People who give him security and are happy to experience every small developmental step with him. With love, understanding, consistency and some patience, HUNTER will grow into a loyal companion who will bring much joy to his people with his gentle nature and loyalty. Who gives Hunter the chance for a new beginning, not only gets a wonderful dog, but also a friend for life who shows every day how much love is in him. Dog experience should be present! Hunter could be vaccinated, chipped, castrated, dewormed, with EU vaccination passport, after positive pre-control and protection contract, travel to Berlin or Stuttgart. As always, we point out that a dog from foreign animal welfare needs time, patience and a loving arrival. New impressions, new routines and new bonds should grow in peace. Who is willing to go this way together will be rewarded with an especially deep connection. About Hunter

What life with Hunter looks like

Hunter is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen in Ketzin.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Hunter, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Hunter?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Hunter on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Hunter if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Hunter already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Hunter isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with animals care - Tierschutz ohne Grenzen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Hunter and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
