Irys has proven to be a stable and well-balanced senior dog. He greatly appreciates human companionship and often seeks petting himself, gently extending his front paw toward his caregiver. Taking walks with him is a real pleasure; he knows how to wear a leash and can use it effectively. Walks are typically short-distance and conducted at a calm pace. At first, he may be shy, but he quickly opens up to new people and forms bonds easily. Occasionally, he gets startled by random noises or sudden movements, at which point he looks for reassurance from his caregiver. His appetite is excellent, so he happily cooperates with his human companion in exchange for tasty dog treats. He thoroughly enjoys playing with toys where food plays a central role, such as lick mats, Kongs, and scent mats. He gets along well with other dogs, though when encountering overly energetic or pushy dogs, his caregiver will need to ensure his comfort and safety. He has a positive attitude toward other dogs, but he might struggle to set boundaries and may not be able to stop another dog if the situation calls for it. He patiently endures grooming procedures and frequent vet visits. Due to his diagnosed conditions, he’ll require regular veterinary check-ups and ongoing treatment. He suffers from hypothyroidism and Cushing’s syndrome—he bravely takes his medications and undergoes routine check-ups regularly. Because of spinal degeneration, he receives pain-relieving medication that significantly improves his quality of life. Irysek is a wonderful and gentle canine soul, eagerly seeking a peaceful haven and a calm refuge. Unfortunately, he has been diagnosed with Cushing’s syndrome, hypothyroidism, and spondylosis. Detailed information will be provided directly by the veterinarian at the shelter. Given his health condition, he’s looking for a home without stairs. He’d do best in a household without small children.

Irys dał się poznać jako stabilny i zrównoważony senior. Bardzo ceni sobie bliskość człowieka i często sam domaga się głaskania, delikatnie wyciągając przednią łapkę w stronę opiekuna. Spacery z nim to przyjemność, zna smycz i potrafi z niej korzystać. Spacery odbywają się raczej na krótkich dystansach w spokojnym tempie. Na początku bywa nieśmiały, ale szybko otwiera się na nowych ludzi i nawiązuje relacje. Zdarza mu się przestraszyć przypadkowych hałasów oraz nagłych ruchów, szuka wtedy wsparcia u opiekuna. Apetyt mu dopisuje, więc chętnie współpracuje z człowiekiem za psie smaczki. Dużą frajdę sprawia mu korzystanie z zabawek, w których to jedzenie gra główną rolę, takich jak lickmaty, kongi czy maty węchowe. Dogaduje się z innymi psami, lecz przy zbyt intensywnych lub natarczywych psach jego opiekun będzie musiał zadbać o jego komfort i bezpieczeństwo. Jest pozytywnie nastawiony do innych psów, może jednak mieć problem z postawieniem granic i nie potrafić zatrzymać innego psa, gdyby sytuacja tego wymagała. Cierpliwie znosi zabiegi pielęgnacyjne i częste wizyty u weterynarza. Ze względu na zdiagnozowane schorzenia będzie wymagał regularnych wizyt u weterynarza oraz dalszego leczenia. Szczegółowe informacje zostaną omówione bezpośrednio z weterynarzem w schronisku. Ze względu na stan zdrowia szuka domu bez schodów. Lepiej odnajdzie się w domu bez małych dzieci.
