adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Ivy has found her home! Her story: When you meet the lovely Ivy, you immediately sense her open nature. The young female dog is friendly, playful, and always friendly. She loves to run, play, and explore her surroundings. When it comes to unfamiliar dogs or people, she shows a more submissive and cautious demeanor. She was fortunate enough to be placed in a foster home in Jüterbog, where she can be visited at any time. Her short tail, which makes her stand out, is something we can't say for sure whether it's an inborn trait or due to an accident. She gets along well with other dogs and shows a compatible nature in handling. Ivy was found as a young female dog on the street and then came to the public shelter in Bistrita. She suffered greatly under the conditions there. With her shoulder height of approximately 57-60 cm and weighing around 25 kg, she is a medium to large female dog who craves movement and mental stimulation. But of course, she also enjoys long cuddle sessions. We wish to find a rural home for our Black Lady, preferably with a garden. An only dog could be very nice for Ivy, but it is not a must. The dog's 1×1 needs to be learned by Ivy – things like leash training, house training, or life in the home are still unknown to her. However, she is eager to learn, wants to please, and will make progress with patience and lovingly consistent training. With her age of around 1.5 years, Ivy is also in the middle of puberty – a phase that can turn everything upside down. With humor, calmness, and positive training classes, she will come out of it strengthened and become a confident companion. Ivy is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas, and has her EU pet passport.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen!

About Ivy

What life with Ivy looks like

Ivy is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ivy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ivy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ivy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ivy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ivy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ivy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ivy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
