Ivy

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Unknown · Adult · 5 years

Breed: Staffordshire Terrier Age: 01-05-2021 Medical: Vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated. Ivy will be spayed soon. Temperament: Sweet, anxious, cuddly House-trained: Yes Finally, I can introduce myself—I’m Ivy. A beautiful and very sweet Staffordshire girl, about 4 years old. You can clearly see from my body that I was previously used as a breeding dog. Outside of life with other dogs, I didn’t know much at all. When I first arrived at HondenCampus, I was quite the scaredy-cat. Luckily, I got to go home right away with one of the trainers. There’s another dog there, and that’s where I really started to blossom! I love playing and sleeping together with her. Actually, I just do exactly what she does, and if I do that, everything must be fine, right? Occasionally, she does grumble at me when I sit on top of her, and I listen to her right away. Outside, I feel much freer than I do at home. I sniff around everywhere and find everything interesting. As for cats—well, I’d love to chase them outside, so living with one doesn’t seem like such a good idea to me. I’ll only be placed in a household where there’s already another stable dog. If that dog enjoys playing, that’s a big plus. A child in the house isn’t a problem for me either—as long as they’re calm around me and don’t have too many friends over frequently. That’s still pretty exciting for me. The same goes for men, by the way—I need a long time to get used to them, and I can bark quite fiercely at them. I’d rather lie against you or another dog all day long. With another dog, I can even stay alone for a few hours. I’m well house-trained and haven’t broken anything yet. About Ivy

What life with Ivy looks like

Ivy is a adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Dierenopvang Hart van Brabant in Netherlands.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ivy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ivy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dierenopvang Hart van Brabant handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ivy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ivy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dierenopvang Hart van Brabant will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ivy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ivy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dierenopvang Hart van Brabant early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ivy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
