Jager

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Jager, a large dog weighing approximately 32 kg, is available for adoption. He was taken in by our foundation after an intervention. Jager has a difficult past and it is clear that his previous experiences have had a significant impact on him, both physically and mentally. On the day of his adoption, his condition was not good. He was struggling to breathe, very tired, and clearly overwhelmed by the situation he found himself in. He needed time to simply breathe and feel safer. Today, he is under care, with basic safety provided, but he still needs what the foundation cannot replace - his human. Jager is a friendly, outgoing, and relationship-oriented dog. He enjoys human company, seeks contact, and wants to cooperate. He is not a dog that avoids people or is withdrawn; on the contrary, he shows a great need for closeness and building relationships. It is important to note that Jager has likely never had a stable life or proper care. He does not know everything, does not understand everything, and some things will need to be worked on with him. Relationships with people: Jager is friendly towards people and enjoys making contact. He can be affectionate, likes attention, and builds relationships, but he needs a moment to feel more confident in a new place. Relationships with other dogs: Jager gets along with dogs, although the beginning is not always easy. He needs time to get to know them and be introduced calmly. Once the emotions subside and he feels safe, he can function properly in the company of other dogs. Walks and leash: On walks, Jager sometimes pulls on the leash. This does not seem like an insurmountable problem - rather the result of a lack of previous training and consistency. With regular work, calm guidance, and appropriate rules, this is something that can be effectively worked on. Home and daily life: Jager has probably never had the opportunity to learn the rules of living at home. The new owner must be prepared for the fact that adaptation may take some time. He may need to learn the routine, rest at home, new rules, and daily life by the side of a human. We are looking for a responsible, stable, and aware home for Jager, who understands that a dog with a difficult past needs patience and a calm introduction. Someone who does not expect a perfect dog from day one, but is willing to give him space for adaptation and learning a new life. Jager currently lives in a temporary home near Warsaw. If you think you can give him a home, fill out the pre-adoption questionnaire. Jager may be waiting for you!

Lubi bliskość człowieka, szuka kontaktu i chce współpracować. About Jager

What life with Jager looks like

Jager is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Psa Karmela in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jager, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jager?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Psa Karmela handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jager on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jager if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Psa Karmela will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jager already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jager isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Psa Karmela early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jager and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
