Jefte

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 1 year

Origin Country: Hungary On May 13, 2026, the quintet consisting of the charming dogs Jefte, Zsanin, Bogat, Csingiz, and Matea from the city of Jászkarajenő arrived at the animal shelter in Kecskemét. Unfortunately, there is no information about their past. They had been living on the streets there, and the mayor informed the Menhely. None of the dogs had chips, and no one claimed them. We hope that the Menhely will only be a short stopover, and they will soon find their own people who will stick with them through thick and thin and never leave them. The five do not necessarily have to be rehomed together. Jefte was initially a bit shy, which is completely understandable. The entire shelter situation can be daunting, and he was not used to receiving love and attention. However, he is finding more and more enjoyment in it and loves being spoiled with cuddles and affection, something he doesn’t want to miss and has a lot of catching up to do. He has already given his heart to the people he knows, but it takes a few minutes for him to realize that someone means well with him when it comes to strangers. Otherwise, he is a friendly and nice little guy who simply must be loved. He still needs to learn a few things about doggie basics, but he will surely quickly understand how to run like a hare and make up for the missed time with gentle guidance. He is curious about the big, wide world outside, which he wants to explore step by step with his new people. He looks forward to many beautiful hours with his new family. Jefte has no problems with his fellow animals and is currently (May 28, 2026) being integrated into a mixed pack. Our enchanting Jefte longs for a protected home with sensitive and loving people who can give him the security, care, love, and safety he so desperately needs and seeks. A soft bed, many cuddles, beautiful walks, dog-friendly exercise, and people who can show him the sunny sides of life, and Jefte can finally enjoy a worthy and carefree life. Whom can Jefte give his heart to? Jefte can travel starting from mid/end of June 2026 if he finds a home or a foster home.

About Jefte

What life with Jefte looks like

Jefte is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jefte, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jefte?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jefte on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jefte if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jefte already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jefte isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jefte and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
