Adopt Polika

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 4 months

Native Country: Hungary The most beloved Polika is still not long in the world, already unwanted and landed in the animal shelter. She was found homeless, lonely, and abandoned outside Kecskemét on a sandy road on April 30, 2026. Presumably, the little one was left out fearfully, simply to her fate. Fortunately, she was found and secured. She eagerly waits in Menhely for loving people who will support her on her way to adulthood and never leave her. Polika is a loving, cheerful, and friendly puppy. She becomes more curious, more playful, and more eager to explore every day, and she very much likes us humans. She also enjoys cuddles and attention. Of course, she knows nothing yet about puppy school, and her new two-leggeds must lovingly teach her everything step by step. Polika is like a raw diamond that still needs to be polished so that she can continue to develop into a wonderful companion, but she will certainly bring a lot of joy to her future owners. However, her new people should be aware of what it means to take a young puppy into their home and the long-term responsibility it entails. She would certainly be happy with mental and physical exertion, adjusted to her age, and when she has settled in. Polika gets along well with her fellow animals and lives in a puppy group. For our charming Polika, we are looking for a loving home with wonderful people who will welcome her forever. Dog-lover two-leggeds who can give her all the love, care, and security she has missed and never experienced before. Beautiful walks, play, fun, lots of cuddles, a soft, warm sleeping place, enough quiet phases, and people of her own who will go on the rest of her life path with her, is what Polika wishes from the heart. A lonely puppy is searching for family connection! At the moment, Polika is still too young for spaying, which must be done by the new owners when she is old enough. The final size of 35-45cm and final weight of 9-16kg are only estimated. On May 28, 2026, Polika was 25cm and 4.9kg. Polika can travel from around early to mid-July 2026 if she has a home or a foster home.

About Polika

What life with Polika looks like

Polika is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Animal Happyend in Animal Happyend.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Polika, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Polika?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Happyend handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Polika on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Polika if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Happyend will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Polika already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Polika isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Happyend early rather than rehoming privately; they know Polika and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
