Adopt Ješka

Unknown · Adult · 4 years

Inside the Adažu polygon, where people are not allowed to enter and the nearest houses are several kilometers away, a soldier found a kitten. Ješka was sneezing, kissing, and constantly sniffing. The soldier realized that it was dangerous for the animal to be there, especially since it was sick, and took it to the shelter. At first we thought: just a cold - the herbal treatment quickly removed the sneezes and mucus, but after some time everything started again, and then pus came into the ear. The doctors observed, examined, and analyzed and decided to remove the left ear canal of the kitten. After the operation we were happy: Ješka has no more sneezes or pus, we will soon look for new home. Indeed, our surgeon, being experienced, sent the removed tissue for a biopsy and finally we received the results. There are no cancerous cells, but the new growth is there and no one knows - over time it will grow more towards the ear or the nose, and if towards the latter - it will be bad. Unfortunately, it seems that the worst prognosis is beginning to come true, because Ješka is sneezing again... This does not prevent the nice kitten from living. Yes, sometimes sneezing, the sneezes fly around, but what's the problem? Satīm cleans, we wipe Ješka's nose and continue living. Communication with people is fantastic for this cat! With other cats he sometimes "scratches", which is not exactly an attack, more like a playful provocation, which not all feline brothers like. If Ješka were healthy, he would have long ago found a home, making a family happy with such a great cat. The flying sneezes keep people away...

About Ješka

What life with Ješka looks like

Ješka is a adult cat waiting at Labās Mājas in Riga.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇱🇻Adopting from Latvia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ješka, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ješka?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Labās Mājas handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ješka on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ješka if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Labās Mājas will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ješka already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ješka isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Labās Mājas early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ješka and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
