Jiles

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Gender: male Birthday: approximately May 2018 Castrated/Neutered: no Weight: 18,1 kg Back story: Jiles was found on the street, microchipped but not registered. Description/Updates/Pictures: Update August 2026: Jiles is a gentle senior who doesn't need much to be happy. He's very sweet with other dogs, walks nicely on a leash, and is friendly with new people. Jiles is showing some early signs of kidney disease. He's currently on renal food and receives vitamin supplements, but he doesn't require any additional medication at the moment. Update April 2026: Jiles is an older dog and was found in a poor condition- thin, with bad teeth, and very tired. For now, he needs time to settle in. He slightly has kidney issues, but apart from that he is healthy. Click here to find out how he came to us:

About Jiles

What life with Jiles looks like

Jiles is a senior mixed breed dog waiting at Souda Shelter in Chania.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jiles, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jiles?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Souda Shelter handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jiles on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jiles if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Souda Shelter will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jiles already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jiles isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Souda Shelter early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jiles and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
