Jimmy

Male · Adult · 4 years

Karma: Sporting Life Royal Canin (dry food) Health status: Receives calming medication to help him cope better with shelter stress. Jimmy is a large dog of the TTB breed. At the sight of his caregiver, he jumps, squeaks, and wags his tail vigorously. When excited, he loves giving kisses on the face—and to reach it, he has to jump up or lean against his caregiver, which makes some people feel uneasy around him. He’s an emotional dog who’s really just a scared little child in a giant’s body. On walks, he initially pulls a bit, but then moves forward at a steady pace—not making sudden lunges—and once he calms down, he can walk calmly on a loose leash. Jimmy loves sniffing around in the woods, and when something scares him, he usually seeks comfort and support from a human. Trains passing right next to him, which used to terrify him, no longer have much of an impact on him today. In the exercise yard, he can occupy himself, though he prefers staying close to his caregiver. He absolutely loves treats—they’re a huge motivation for him to learn new commands; currently, he knows “sit” and “give paw.” He especially enjoys being scratched on the rump—it brings him great pleasure and helps him relax. Sometimes he pulls toward other dogs, sometimes he reacts with intense excitement, and sometimes he ignores them altogether. For now, we’re not entirely sure what factors influence his reactions. We’re looking for a home for Jimmy that is: — active—providing stability, routine, and patience—without small children—without other pets—familiar with the specific characteristics of the TTB breed.

PL·Show original

Jimmy to duży pies w typie TTB. Jimmy uwielbia węszyć w lesie, a jak coś go przestraszy, najczęściej szuka oparcia w człowieku.

About Jimmy

What life with Jimmy looks like

Jimmy is a large adult dog waiting at Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu in Poznan.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jimmy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jimmy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jimmy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jimmy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jimmy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jimmy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko dla Zwierząt w Poznaniu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jimmy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
