Jori

Mixed Breed · Male

A dog shelter in Prejmer village is located on the outskirts of the village. Although the shelter is careful about how many dogs are taken in to maintain quality care, requests for help from Prejmer are often urgent due to the village's proximity. So when the village authorities reported a pack of dogs appearing near the village school in January 2025, the shelter's workers immediately went to collect the dogs. Among the several dogs that left the street was Jori. Despite his cheerful and affectionate nature, he has been waiting at the shelter for almost two years. Jori is a typical young large dog. He has the energy and enthusiasm to do anything, which is why life in a boring cage frustrates him. Nevertheless, he welcomes all people with great joy and is always ready for cuddles. Jori loves walking and is always ecstatic when he gets out of the cage to explore the world. He also loves all kinds of play, especially chasing a ball, and could chase it all day. He desperately needs an active home where he can exercise and play with his owners. He has gotten along well with other dogs outside the cage at the shelter, but in a small cage, energetic Jori has been too much for the other dogs. He would do great as a single dog.

Care for Dogsin tarha sijaitsee Prejmerin kylän laidalla. Jori on tyypillinen nuori iso koira.

About Jori

What life with Jori looks like

Jori is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Embla Rescue in Helsinki.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇮Adopting from Finland

Finnish shelters require a home visit and an adoption contract. Animals are vetted; the EU pet passport covers cross-border travel within the bloc.

Frequently asked

Adopting Jori, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Jori?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Embla Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Jori on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Jori if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Embla Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Jori already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Jori isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Embla Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Jori and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FI). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
