adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Josie has found her home! Her story: Josie came from a village where she lived with another female dog—they both had puppies and had to fend for themselves and their offspring. They sought shelter in an abandoned house and lived off what was occasionally brought to them. But life there was uncertain and dangerous, and not all the puppies made it. When a severe attack by other dogs led to an escalation of the situation, it was decided to bring them to safety. An older man took them in and gave them the chance at a better life. From there, Josie moved into a foster home and today shows how much closeness and trust are within her. Josie is a very people-oriented, affectionate female dog who quickly makes connections. She actively seeks contact, enjoys affection, and likes to orient herself to her trusted people. She brings a calm, pleasant nature with her without being boring. At her foster home, she lives problem-free with other dogs and also gets along well with cats. She likes to stay in the house, loves warm spots, and being with her people, but is just as happy out and about, moving and playing. Josie brings a beautiful balance: she can relax when there is peace and is open for activity and shared time. Life in a new home will still be an adjustment for her. Whether she is already house-trained, knows everyday noises, or is accustomed to regular routines, we cannot say at the moment. She needs orientation, clear structures, and patience. Positive working dog training classes can help her a lot. Josie is microchipped, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated and brings her EU pet passport. For those looking for a small, very clingy female dog who loves closeness and bonds closely with her people, Josie will be a wonderful companion. Many thanks to her namesake Anja N. You gave Josie her name. As of: 05.04.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 05.04.2026

About Josie

What life with Josie looks like

Josie is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Josie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Josie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Josie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Josie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Josie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Josie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Josie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
