Adopt Kazan

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 5 years

This beautiful dog became a victim of human evil. Human irresponsibility, indifference... As a puppy they tied a rope around his neck, which of course was never loosened. Ropes, ropes, ropes. Always the same thing. And these poor dogs therefore live through constant huge pain. Can you imagine something digging into your throat every day and every movement being painful? Kazan fought, managed it, and now is waiting for you. KAZAN is still a big puppy. He would constantly go crazy, play, chew. He loves playing with other dogs, that's his "drug." Always chase games, barking games, tug-of-war. So he gets along well with dogs if they are also friendly. He is a big child. An unbroken child. From his "wanted to be owner" he got no training. Only pain and suffering. Therefore he needs someone who will properly train him, work with him and give him lots of exercise and even more love. With proper guidance, lots of dog friends to play with and endless fun, he will be the best companion you can wish for. Kazan has good hygiene habits, is very clever and learns quickly. He is afraid of vets and treatment, but that can be learned and mastered over time. For now he guards his food bowl, had to fight very hard for food. He just needs the right direction from the owner. He is not a dog for everyone. He needs an experienced dog person, not a first-time dog owner. Someone who will work a lot with him. He needs to never get bored. He is not suitable for a family with children. We believe that happiness will one day smile upon him. Kazan is an amazing dog companion. He just needs to be given a chance and he will become the best companion in good times and bad. He is suitable for an apartment or house with year-round access to daylight. He will go to his new home vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. He is located in the shelter in Švábovce near Poprad.

Povrazy, povrazy, povrazy. Neustále to isté. A tieto úbohé psy preto prežívajú stále obrovskú bolesť. Len bolesť a trápenie. Preto potrebuje niekoho kto ho správne vychová, bude s ním pracovať a dá mu veľa pohybu a ešte viac lásky.

About Kazan

What life with Kazan looks like

Kazan is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Cesta za domovom in Slovakia.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇰Adopting from Slovakia

Slovak rescue groups coordinate cross-border transport with European partners. Animals are chipped and vaccinated; sterilization is often included for adults and arranged post-adoption for puppies/kittens.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kazan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kazan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Cesta za domovom handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kazan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kazan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Cesta za domovom will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kazan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kazan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Cesta za domovom early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kazan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
