Kerria is a friendly cat who is still in the process of becoming more comfortable with people. She doesn’t allow herself to be touched, but she’ll happily curl up on the sofa or bed right next to you—though her absolute favorite spot is definitely nestled in another cat’s lap. Because of this, Kerria is looking for a home where she can remain her own cautious self and take her time progressing through the gentle stages of socialization. As for feline companionship, Kerria craves closeness and shared grooming and sleeping moments; she’d love nothing more than to share a bed with another cat. Kerria isn’t fond of rough play, but she does enjoy playing fetch daily with the other cat from her first home. At night, she’ll happily “ride along” with any toy that seems suitable for playing. Her favorite toys include balls and wand toys (she never seems to tire of human interaction!), and she has plenty of hunting instincts and enthusiasm. In short, Kerria is multi-faceted: gentle and calm yet lively and active, shy yet deeply craving closeness. Life with Kerria is very easy, as she seems to have a wonderfully positive outlook on life and a modest nature. Despite needing her own space, she seems to enjoy everyone’s company and loves being included in everything. Health: Most of Kerria’s teeth have been removed. In April 2026, tartar was removed, and the remaining seven teeth were X-rayed. No teeth needed extraction this time, but due to a previous cancer diagnosis, her dental health will need to be monitored annually via X-rays. Kerria has been diagnosed with kidney failure and will be on Renal food for the rest of her life. She eats well—Kerria comes into the kitchen to wait for her meal and then quietly makes her way to her own feeding spot (due to different dietary needs, the cats from her first home eat in separate areas). Kerria also has spondylosis and osteoarthritis. Thanks to injections, weight loss, and increased exercise, her condition has improved significantly, and she’s become much more active. In the photos, her coat appears short on her back because it was shaved to remove mats when she first arrived at the association. Since then, Kerria has been grooming her coat normally, and no more mats have formed. Due to her shyness, giving medication directly into her mouth remains highly stressful for Kerria. Currently, she’s not receiving such treatments, but as her chronic conditions progress, her new home will need to be prepared to administer medication if necessary. Kerria on kesyyntymisvaiheessa oleva ystävällinen kissa. Koskea ei anna, mutta hakeutuu itse sohvalle ja sänkyyn viereen hengailemaan, joskin ehdottomasti paras paikka on toisen kissan kainalossa. Tästä johtuen Kerria etsiikin kotia, missä se saa olla omanlaisensa arastelija ja ottaa aikansa hitaiden kesyyntymissteppien ottamisessa. Kissakaveriltaan Kerria toivoo läheisyyttä ja yhteisiä pesu- ja nukkumishetkiä, saman pedin jakaminen on tämän neidon mieleen. Painileikeistä Kerria ei pidä, mutta hippaa se leikkii päivittäin ensikodin toisen kissan kanssa. Öisin saa kyytiä kaikki leluksi sopiva. Lempparileluina on pallot ja keppilelut (ihmisen leikitykseen ei tunnu väsyvän ikinä), metsästysviettiä ja -intoa riittää. Kerria on siis moniulotteinen; lempeä ja rauhallinen mutta samalla vilkas ja aktiivinen, sekä arka, mutta läheisyydenkaipuinen. Arki Kerrian kanssa on hyvin helppoa, koska sillä tuntuu olevan hyvin positiivinen elämänasenne ja vaatimaton luonne, ja oman tilan tarpeesta huolimatta se tuntuu pitävän kaikista ja haluaa olla menossa mukana. Terveys: Kerrialta on poistettu suurin osa hampaista. Huhtikuussa -26 on poistettu hammaskivi ja jäljellä olevat 7 hammasta röntgenkuvattiin. Poistokuntoisia hampaita ei tällä kertaa ollut, mutta syöpymäsairauden vuoksi on hampaiden terveyttä seurattava vuosittain röntgenkuvauksilla. Kerrialla on diagnosoitu munuaisten vajaatoiminta ja se syö loppuelämänsä ajan Renal-ruokaa. Ruokailu onnistuu hienosti, Kerria tulee keittiöön odottamaan ruokaa ja kipittelee sitten edeltä omalle ruokapaikalleen (eri ruokavalioiden vuoksi ensikodin kissat syövät eri tiloissa). Kerrialla on myös spondyloosia ja nivelrikkoa. Näiden osalta vointi on kohentunut ja kissa aktivoitunut suuresti pistoshoidon, painonpudotuksen ja liikunnan lisäämisen myötä. Kuvissa turkki on selästä lyhyt, koska se ajeltiin takkujen vuoksi kissan saavuttua yhdistykselle. Sittemmin Kerria on hoitanut turkkiaan normaaliin tapaan, eikä takkuja ole enää muodostunut. Arkuutensa vuoksi suoraan suuhun annettavat lääkitykset ovat Kerrialle vielä todella stressaavia. Tällä hetkellä sellaisia ei mene, mutta kroonisten sairauksien edetessä omalla kodilla on oltava valmius lääkitsemiseen.
