Kira

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this little Kira now and give her the chance at great happiness! Kira spent her entire previous life on the streets. Like most street dogs, she was pregnant multiple times, but her puppies couldn't withstand the harsh life and none of them survived. But Kira was saved and found refuge in our shelter in Fantanele. Kira is still shy and cautious around new people, but once she trusts someone, she is very clingy and affectionate. However, it takes some patience to build that trust. It is definitely worth it! That's why it's so important for Kira to find a place where she can settle down in peace and build trust with her trusted people. Her people should let her set her own pace. She gets along well with smaller dogs but may be a bit afraid of larger ones. But who could blame her, as a street dog, she probably faced size-related challenges often. Although she may have been hungry at times, she has no problem sharing her food with other dogs, showing her wonderful character. Kira could live with dogs of similar or smaller size. But she would also be happy as the sole princess in her family, receiving the full attention she deserves. So far, it hasn't been tested whether Kira gets along with cats. The little sweet Kira is already looking forward to long nature walks and even enjoys attending dog training classes. Kira has a small size of 35 cm and 8 kg, making her one of the smaller dogs. Kira travels neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and flea-treated. She is grateful to Natalie P. for her namesake sponsorship, which has laid the foundation for Kira's new life. As of May 28.

Stand: 28.05.2024

About Kira

What life with Kira looks like

Kira is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kira, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kira?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kira on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kira if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kira already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kira isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kira and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
