Kirac

Mixed Breed · Female

That our friends in Andalusia find dogs in front of the gate of their animal shelter is anything but rare. Some are tied there by their cowardly owners, others by finders who do not want to wait until the animal welfare workers can safely take in the new rescue, and others come completely voluntarily because they hear the four-legged animals in ArcoNatura and hope for food. Eda and Kirac did not wait in front of the gate, but in the middle of the yard of the heavily fenced animal shelter. Probably they were thrown over the fence during a night and fog operation. The two beautiful Podencas were completely unsettled and hid panicking trembling in front of the volunteers, who had to use all means of art to eventually get Kirac and Eda into a cage where the dogs calmed down. The three-year-old (as of 08/2021) Eda and her two-year-old friend Kirac have now arrived at ArcoNatura and are gaining more trust every day. However, both are initially very shy and need a lot of time and patience to build friendship with people. With fellow animals, however, Eda and Kirac get along very well and also orient themselves towards their four-legged friends when it comes to making contact with the staff of the animal shelter. Eda and Kirac obviously have not had particularly good experiences with humans in their lives, and therefore we hope that each of these elegant ladies will find a family that has patience, understanding, and time to meet the needs of their dog. A confident, calm dog at home would certainly help the affectionate Podencas to adjust more quickly and feel comfortable in the new environment. But already now, Eda and Kirac are beginning to join the scary bipeds, discover the benefits of tummy rubs, and check the pockets of the volunteers for cookies with their friends. We are therefore very confident that, with loving people in a quiet environment, these timid little creatures will soon become balanced and happy young dogs who enjoy life to the fullest. Please give these beautiful princesses a chance to prove their potential as Personal Trainers, hot water bottles, and soul comforters!

About Kirac

What life with Kirac looks like

Kirac is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kirac, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kirac?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kirac on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kirac if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kirac already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kirac isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kirac and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
