Adopt Kitzi

European Shorthair · Female · Adult · 4 years

Hello! My name is Kitzi and I am a 4-year-old black-and-white, chatty cat. I was dropped off at our shelter, because my people could no longer take care of me. At first, this was quite overwhelming for me and I did not feel comfortable here at all. Although I sought human contact and enjoyed being petted, I made it clear when my sweet little nose was full. Things are looking up now because I have a spacious, own room with an extra area. I can tell you – it’s wonderful! My staff finds that I am on the friendly side – and they are absolutely right. Meow! In my new home, I would like to be a solo princess, because I don’t find my fellow animals so great. For that, I would like to have a trial period with free roam, and I’m already looking forward to that. And I think kids are not really my thing, because I prefer a bit less chaos. For that, food is my thing – I love to gorge myself on delicious food. Aww. Nice! And now I’ve been here long enough and I would like to start my new life with you. Would you perhaps have the patience and love to take me in as my new princess kingdom? Yes? Then write quickly to the animal shelter so I don’t have to wait too long for you. Hurray!. This animal was surrendered to the shelter. This cat needs outdoor access.

Huhu! Juchu!

About Kitzi

What life with Kitzi looks like

Kitzi is a large adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel in Kiel.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Kitzi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Kitzi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Kitzi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Kitzi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Kitzi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Kitzi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Uhlenkrog Kiel early rather than rehoming privately; they know Kitzi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
