Adopt KRAKERS

Border Collie · Male · Adult · 7 years

KRAKERS is a 7-year-old border collie who spent most of his life as a family companion. He comes from a legal breeding and functioned as a household pet for over six years. Unfortunately, as is often emphasized in the case of this breed, border collies need an aware and involved caregiver - this element was missing in his previous home. He was raised with a child. First he lived in an apartment, then in a house with a garden. Normally, he didn't cause any problems - he could be left alone and didn't show tendencies to destroy. However, there were situations where he growled at his owner. This issue was not properly addressed, which led to its intensification and eventually to an incident of biting. From today's perspective, we assume that this behavior may have had a painful basis. After this incident, the caretakers decided to find him a new home, but KRAKERS did not spend much time there - after a few months, under unclear circumstances, he ended up in an animal shelter. Currently, in the animal shelter, he shows himself to be a great, energetic, and trouble-free dog. He is very open to contact with people, willingly cooperates and loves retrieving - one could say that this is his specialty. He functions well among other dogs, although according to previous caretakers he may show a tendency to guard his toys. So far, we have not observed any problematic behaviors in him - he does not show excessive reactions to other dogs, bicycles or cars, and has no obsessions. However, we know that he will best find his way with an active and experienced person who will be able to guide him properly. A home without children and other animals is preferred, although we see potential for good relationships with another dog with proper introduction. KRAKERS is currently being diagnosed for occasional lameness, so the future caregiver will most likely have to continue treatment and further diagnostics.

About KRAKERS

What life with KRAKERS looks like

KRAKERS is a medium-sized adult border collie dog waiting at Schronisko Kraków in Kraków.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting KRAKERS, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about KRAKERS?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Kraków handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw KRAKERS on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt KRAKERS if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Kraków will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is KRAKERS already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if KRAKERS isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Kraków early rather than rehoming privately; they know KRAKERS and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
