How do I contact the shelter about Krzysiu?

Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Psa Karmela handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Krzysiu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.

Can I adopt Krzysiu if I live in another country?

Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Psa Karmela will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.

Is Krzysiu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?

Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.

What happens if Krzysiu isn't the right fit?

Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Psa Karmela early rather than rehoming privately; they know Krzysiu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.

Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?

TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.

Krzysiu

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Krzysiu - a dog who doesn't know the word "impossible"! Krzysiu (also known as Sherman) came to us from a shelter in Kuflew. He weighs less than 10 kg, is about 9 years old, and has a huge heart for life! Although his back legs don't work, he doesn't care about it at all - he zips around in a wheelchair like a real Formula 1 champion. Walking with him is pure joy (and a good workout to keep up with him). This is a dog with complete paralysis of the hind legs, which is why he rides in a wheelchair. But it's no problem for him to live with great joy and a smiling face 🙂 He's a real first-class cuddler - he loves people without exception: big, small, everyone! Petting, cuddles, and human closeness are his element! At home? An angel, not a dog. Quiet, calm, beautifully rests and can stay alone without any problems. Outdoors? A rocket! He'll go through anything and even ask for an extra walk! Other animals? Dogs - sometimes he "mumbles under his breath", but generally gets along without a problem. Cats - he's curious about them, but doesn't make them a sprint of life. Children? He loves them! Especially if they have their hands free to pet. Important: Krzysiu needs help emptying his bladder (squeezing). But don't worry... there are advantages to this. He's the only dog who pees when YOU want, not when he thinks it's appropriate 😉 We're looking for a home full of love, warmth, and a bit of support for him. And in return, you'll get the most loyal friend who will show you that the joy of life knows no limits! For the future caregiver, we provide training with a veterinarian in the care and handling of such a dog, so you won't be left alone - we'll teach you everything! Besides, you'll quickly see for yourself that it's simpler than it may seem. The dog currently lives in a temporary home near Opole. Give Krzysiu a chance at his own home, which he never had before. He really deserves it. If you feel that this guy is the future love of your life, please fill out the adoption form. Waży poniżej 10 kg, ma około 9 lat i… ogromne serce do życia! Choć jego tylne łapki nie działają, on kompletnie się tym nie przejmuje – śmiga na wózku jak prawdziwy mistrz Formuły 1. Spacer z nim to czysta radość (i niezły trening, żeby dotrzymać mu tempa). To piesek z całkowitym porażeniem tylnych łap, dlatego jeździ na wózku. Ale to dla niego żaden problem, by żyć z wielką radością i roześmianym pyszczkiem 🙂To prawdziwy miziak pierwszej klasy – kocha ludzi bez wyjątków: dużych, małych, wszystkich! Głaski, przytulasy i bliskość człowieka to jego żywioł! W domu? Anioł nie pies.Cichy, spokojny, pięknie odpoczywa i bez problemu zostaje sam.Na dworze? Rakieta!Przejedzie przez wszystko i jeszcze poprosi o dokładkę spaceru!Inne zwierzaki?Psy – czasem coś „mruknie pod nosem”, ale ogólnie dogaduje się bez problemu.Koty – ciekawią go, ale nie robi z nich sprintu życia.Dzieci? Uwielbia! Zwłaszcza jeśli mają wolne ręce do głaskania. About Krzysiu

What life with Krzysiu looks like

Krzysiu is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Psa Karmela in Poland.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.
