adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Lada has found her forever home! Her story: Bistrita, Romania. The lovely Lada with her awesome black-and-white fur pattern is still a bit shy around people. However, over time in the shelter, she has surprisingly improved, becoming more open and allowing herself to be touched and even stroked. Lada was caught on the street and brought to the public shelter in Bistrita, Romania. Now, she has developed trust with the local helpers and can even enjoy getting attention. Unfortunately, the beautiful female dog is also one of our long-term residents, which is hard to believe 🙁 Lada is approximately 7.5 years old, around 55-60 cm tall, and a very pretty female dog. With her awesome fur color, she always looks as if she just applied eyeliner and eyebrows 🌟 Lada is compatible with all her fellow animals, plays outside the enclosure, and has a much more open demeanor than when she was first brought in. Lada had a sticker-sarcoma. This is a viral infection that can be treated well. She has already received her treatments with infusions and can now travel fully healed at any time. For Lada, we are looking for a dog-experienced, empathetic home where she can take her time to adjust at her own pace. We wish for her a patient, kind, and loving home with experienced people who have no expectations of her and who are not easily discouraged by setbacks. Children should be older and have a respectful and responsible way of interacting with dogs. Lada wishes for a quiet home, preferably rural, with enough places to retreat to if it gets too busy for her. She should always be able to decide what is doable or not for her.

About Lada

What life with Lada looks like

Lada is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lada, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lada?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lada on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lada if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lada already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lada isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lada and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
