Lenny

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 12 years

Gorgeous little 12-year-old Lenny is in the care of Celandine Wood Animal Rescue and is in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. He's a small Crossbreed, around JRT size. The rescue tell us that Lenny is one of those truly special little souls who stays with you once you meet him and is impossible not to love. After sadly losing his owner, and narrowly escaping being put to sleep, Lenny has found himself waiting for someone to offer him a new home. At a time in life where he should be content, everything familiar has been taken away from him. Lenny spent years as someone’s constant companion, always by their side, rarely alone, and now he’s trying to adjust to a completely different world. He desperately needs love, closeness and someone who will enjoy having him as part of their everyday life. Lenny is gentle, affectionate and incredibly people-oriented. He loves being near you, whether that’s snoozing while you work, wandering around the garden, popping to the café, or curling up beside you in the evening. He enjoys his walks and he has so much love and life left to share. Because of the close bond he had with his owner, Lenny struggles with being left alone and needs a home where someone is around most of the time. Lenny could potentially live with the right dog and older children, but hasn’t been tested with cats. He is toilet trained. Lenny has a heart murmur and takes daily medication without any fuss. He hasn't yet been neutered. The rescue say that it's so sad that people keep passing Lenny by for younger dogs, when all Lenny wants is somewhere to belong and call home again. At Oldies Club, we know there are lovely people out there looking to help older dogs specifically, so we're sure the right person will spot Lenny very soon. About Lenny

What life with Lenny looks like

Lenny is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at The Oldies Club in United Kingdom.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lenny, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lenny?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. The Oldies Club handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lenny on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lenny if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — The Oldies Club will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lenny already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lenny isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with The Oldies Club early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lenny and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
