Leo Yorkshire

Male · Young · 2 years

Leo, a friendly but somewhat uncertain little boy, was rescued by a conservationist in Seville from the streets and came to the PROA animal shelter to improve his chances of being adopted. Leo is a friendly, still somewhat uncertain little boy. In his first two years of life, he probably didn't experience much, so everything is new, unknown, and a bit intimidating for him. So the cute little Strubbel needs some time to gain trust in people. Once he overcomes his initial skepticism, he enjoys attention, affection, and petting. When observing Leo on walks, you can see that he is interested in sniffing in quiet areas and walks relaxed, tail held high, on a leash. In busier areas, you can see that traffic, loud noises, and passersby impress him. He tucks his tail, pants, and feels uncomfortable. But Leo is very interested, curious, and observes, he wants to learn and explore, just needs time and people who guide him with calmness, serenity, and encouraging motivation to all the new things and experiences. Leo gets along with his fellow dogs, but cats impress him and he wants to avoid them. We are looking for a home for Leo in a quiet environment. His people should know that Leo does not come and jump into their arms. Leo must be allowed to explore and experience everything at his own pace, at the side of empathetic, cheerful, calm motivating people who discover new life with him. Leo loves treats and is wonderfully motivated to take his little dog heart in his paw and join his people on new things. Leo has a slight patellar luxation on the left, which has already been examined by a veterinarian and requires no treatment. Born: 01.08.2024, size: approx. 28 cm, weight: approx. 6.7 kg, character: friendly, still somewhat uncertain, compatible with fellow dogs: yes, cat-compatible: he respects cats, at the animal shelter since August 2026

About Leo Yorkshire

What life with Leo Yorkshire looks like

Leo Yorkshire is a small young adult dog waiting at TS Fellwechsel e.V. in Varel /nur Vereinssitz, kein Tierheim vor Ort.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Leo Yorkshire, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Leo Yorkshire?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. TS Fellwechsel e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Leo Yorkshire on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Leo Yorkshire if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — TS Fellwechsel e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Leo Yorkshire already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Leo Yorkshire isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with TS Fellwechsel e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Leo Yorkshire and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
