Adopt Lexa

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 11 months

♀, born ca. 6/2025 - outgoing - social - Lexa, born ca. between May and July 2025, is a small mixed-breed girl who will grow to be medium-sized. Lexa is a young, lively female dog who, together with her siblings Cattlaya, Dia, and Darla, was given to us at the shelter in Bulgaria as tiny puppies in 2025. All four had a tough start in life, but fortunately, they are now in safety. Now, Lexa is ready for the next big step: her own home, where she can arrive and finally belong. Lexa meets people very openly, confidently, and clingy. She is friendly, playful, and cuddly and likes to be close to her trusted people. She enjoys attention and affection and shows how much trust and joy of life are in her. As a typical young puppy, Lexa is curious, eager to learn, and wants to discover the world. She brings the best prerequisites to form a close bond with her people and to learn and grow together with them. We expect that Lexa will grow to be approximately Labrador-/Retriever-size when fully grown. She is already neutered. Her siblings Cattlaya, Dia, and Darla are also friendly, young dogs and are also searching for a loving home. For Lexa, we wish for people who can give her time to settle in and who are eager to continue practicing the dog 1x1 training with her. Important are patience, clear structures, loving consequences, and a lot of affection. Lexa will thank it with closeness, trust, and a lot of joy in shared life. Lexa is vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped and is waiting in an intake station in Sofia/Bulgaria for her great happiness. The adoption fee for Lexa is 460 Euro. About Lexa

What life with Lexa looks like

Lexa is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lexa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lexa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lexa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lexa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lexa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lexa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lexa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
