Adopt Lilly

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

General Name: Lilly Gender: female dog neutered: Yes, spayed at travel arrangements Born around: 2025 Size around: small Current location: in 86567 Hilgertshausen Sponsors: no Reserved: no Character Our lovely Lilly was born in May 2025, is around 27 cm tall and weighs around 4 kg. At the moment, she lives in 86567 Hilgertshausen on a foster home and gets along well with other dogs as well as cats. Lilly is a great family dog who is very strongly bonded to her people and greets everyone with friendliness. Within her family, she is clingy and her upbringing is simple with loving consistency. Thanks to her strong desire to please and her excellent memory, Lilly can certainly be trained to be a reliable companion dog, especially for those who have their center of life in the family. However, she currently has separation anxiety and must first learn to be alone at home. Lilly is house-trained and can already walk well on a leash. She is young and loves to play or go for walks. At home, she enjoys cuddling or relaxing in the garden. We think she would be perfect for a family with children who are already a bit older and enjoy playing with her. Of course, she would also be happy with people without children or an active individual with lots of time and love. Lilly is neutered, comes with her EU pet passport, is vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed. If interested in Lilly, please provide us with some details about your living situation. Background Lilly was found on the street by one of our volunteer helpers. Neighbors did not know the small female dog, so we assume she was probably abandoned. She appeared disoriented and had no fear of cars, which is why she did not avoid the street. Since it was too dangerous for the small female dog under these circumstances, she was temporarily taken into the shelter but could already be placed in a foster home in Romania that night. Notes The parents are not known, so no information can be given about the included breeds. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About Lilly

What life with Lilly looks like

Lilly is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. in Dorsten.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lilly, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lilly?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lilly on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lilly if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lilly already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lilly isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Freundeskreis Notfellchen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lilly and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
