adoption requirements adoption process Now adopt this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Lowa has found her home! Her story: Fantanele, Romania. Wuschelhund Lowa is searching for her own family. Lowa was born with her siblings Missy, Faye, and Rusty near a railway line. Unfortunately, only the four puppies could be saved. The mother could not be caught. But the four siblings are safe. Lowa is likely to be of medium size. With her playful white standing hair, she looks curiously into the camera and her surroundings. Lowa is very friendly, enjoys being held and stroked. She gets along well with other dogs, but we have not yet tested if she does the same with cats. Lowa is still a baby and needs to learn the complete dog ABC. One or another mishap shouldn't be held against her, and Lowa should always be guided with a positive reinforcement training style. She is looking forward to her new life with beautiful nature walks, many cuddle hours, and also a visit to puppy school. Puppies should not be left alone as much as possible in their first year of life. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the little rascals' lives upside down. They "forget" often everything they have learned so far, and their ears are on full blast. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to consistently but lovingly train. And there is also a good news: This phase will pass! It is not out of the question that Lowa might be a mix with a herding dog. Herding dogs are independent personalities that require consistency and empathy from their owner and the ability to deal with an intelligent, independent, large dog. They bring many great qualities. People who already have experience with herding dogs do not want any other breeds anymore, as they, despite their thick skulls, are very loyal and faithful companions. Therefore, the new people for Lowa should not only be familiar with this breed and appreciate it but also provide the appropriate environment for the young lady, because herding dogs are not city dogs and are not suitable for an apartment. Lowa is microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas and has her EU pet passport in her luggage. For an adoption fee of 450 Euro and after a positive assessment, she would also be happy to stay in a foster home. Do you think Lowa could be your dog? Many thanks, Carina G.! You gave Lowa this beautiful name and thus a sense of identity.

About Lowa

What life with Lowa looks like

Lowa is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lowa, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lowa?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lowa on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lowa if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lowa already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lowa isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lowa and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
