Lucky

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

Lucky lived with his mother Hope and five brothers and sisters on an industrial site. It was an extremely unsafe situation. The factory owner forbade the employees from feeding the dogs. Yet there were kind people who secretly fed the puppies. Brave Hope went looking for food for the little ones and was poisoned. Fortunately, she was taken to the vet in time, who helped her with infusions and a lot of patience not only through the poisoning but also had to operate on her and remove three kilograms of bones from her stomach. And that wasn't all. Hope also needed chemotherapy for a cancerous tumor. Lucky and his brothers and sisters were hidden on the industrial site without their mother for several days. Finally, we managed to arrange (paid) shelter for the whole family and on a Sunday the puppies were secretly taken from the site and brought there. A few days later, Hope was also reunited with her puppies. Lucky is doing well in the shelter. He plays nicely with the other dogs, enjoys the attention and cuddles from the people there. Hope takes good care of the little ones and teaches them what a Romanian puppy should learn. At the beginning of January, the puppies will be old enough to travel to their own golden bed. How nice it would be if a kind adopter has a nice place for Lucky where he can also learn the basics of being a house dog and expects a long happy life. About Lucky

What life with Lucky looks like

Lucky is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Stichting Help een Hond in Netherlands.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇳🇱Adopting from Netherlands

Dutch shelters typically require a household assessment and an adoption contract. Animals are routinely sterilized, microchipped, and registered in the national pet database (NDG) before placement.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Stichting Help een Hond handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Stichting Help een Hond will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Stichting Help een Hond early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (NL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
