Lucy

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 7 months

♀, born around December 2025, welpentypisch-friendly-joyful in Bulgaria Lucy is a female mixed-breed dog born around December 2025, with a current shoulder height of around 42 cm, and is expected to be at least medium-sized. Lucy was rescued from a dilapidated, abandoned house on a trash-strewn piece of land, where many fearful, shy dogs find shelter, and are cared for by a Bulgarian animal welfare colleague as best they can. Lucy was quite open, happy to see people, and seemed not to have been there for long, so she could be secured without problems and now has a safe place. We help Lucy learn the entire doggie curriculum, including house training, being alone, etc., but with patience, calm, loving-consistent guidance, and the occasional treat, she will learn it quickly. She needs the right support and stimulation, and then Lucy will develop into a lifelong friend and faithful companion on four legs. So, if you have a desire and the time for training, exercise, and initially giving up on sleeping through the night, and are rewarded with a wonderful magic mouse, have one or more dog beds available, don't live in the city center, maybe have a social-only dog that Lucy can look to, and as a bonus, have a garden, that would be the dream for Lucy. If you offer sufficient exercise and outdoor stay, including being outdoors in nature and providing a task, not a duty but a challenge... for the right person, Lucy is exactly the right one. Lucy also enjoys the company of other dogs when visiting dog training classes, where it learns much more fun and beautiful things together. Lucy would also be happy to accompany their people to work, because who likes to be alone all day... not Lucy either. Lucy will be vaccinated and microchipped before being rehomed, as she is still too young for spaying and the Snap-4 D-Test. She is located in Sofia, Bulgaria, and is ready to travel. The adoption fee for Lucy is 480 Euros. Do you have a suitable home for Lucy? Then please contact us via the following contact form. ©2022 by Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. Created with Wix.

About Lucy

What life with Lucy looks like

Lucy is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. in Berlin.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Freund fürs Leben e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
