Lulù

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Lulù and Benny once had a family that lived in a beautiful house on the land. When the husband passed away, the wife did not want to stay alone in the house, so she moved to an apartment in Sassari. The dogs were left on the land and were initially cared for there. Since that was not a permanent solution, Sandra was asked if she would take in Lulù and Benny, who, by the way, is blind. We also offered our help. During our project trip in June 2025, we got to know our partner Sandra and the female dog Lulù and the old male dog Benny. As usual, we spent some time with them and took photos to showcase them on our website. However, the situation has since changed: The widow has decided to return to the house on the land. Since the old, blind Benny was the husband's favorite, she brought him back into the house. Since the widow feels physically unable to care for the young, lively female dog, Lulù remains in Sandra's care and is to find a new, good home through us. Lulù is a initially reserved but still very friendly female dog who quickly warms up and enjoys affection. We would be happy if Lulù's stay at Sandra's guest home were only temporary and she could soon make her journey to Germany. Would you like to give the lovely Lulù a forever home with a close family connection? March 28, 2026: Lulù traveled to her German foster home. April 4, 2026: Lulù recently traveled to her foster home in Germany. At first, everything was new and unfamiliar to her, but after a short time, she gained trust and learned many things. In the apartment, the pretty female dog shows herself as a quiet and pleasant companion. She is highly people-oriented and would like to be stroked all day. At the same time, she also has a playful side that often comes to the fore. She meets visitors cautiously and reservedly, but her curiosity soon wins out, and she warms up quickly. With a steady rhythm, Lulù is house-trained and sleeps through the night without problems. Putting on the harness does not stress her, and she is increasingly mastering stairs. Outside, Lulù is still very excited. She has a lot of energy, and walking on the leash still needs to be practiced. However, walks still bring her great joy, and she jumps joyfully over the meadows on the lead. She observes the environment, such as passersby, cyclists, or cars, and orientates herself by her foster parent and the female dog she also gets along well with. Some situations and noises are still not entirely familiar to the dear female dog, both outside and inside. Then she barks, but she quickly calms down. Driving currently stresses Lulù a bit, but she gets in and out without a problem. Due to Lulu's size and weight, children in the new home should already be well-established. The cuddly female dog seeks people who will bring her the world step by step, in peace, and at her own pace. In her previous life, she has not had the chance to learn much, but she is extremely curious, exploratory, and highly people-oriented. Once Lulù is properly settled, she will form a close bond and become a faithful companion. May 6, 2026:

Mai 2026:

About Lulù

What life with Lulù looks like

Lulù is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lulù, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lulù?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lulù on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lulù if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lulù already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lulù isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lulù and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
