Lusia

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

LUSIA 🐶 is looking for a temporary home 🏠 with the option of a permanent one once her legal situation has been resolved. LUSIA was taken to the shelter as a result of police intervention. We know that the little dog was beaten by her previous owner 😔 In the shelter, she showed us her best side. She was well-behaved, sociable, energetic and did not exhibit any behavioral problems. Unfortunately, after adoption, when she felt safe and comfortable in her new environment, issues arose due to her difficult past. ➡️ LUSIA does not tolerate other dogs. She has a tendency to control the surroundings and provoke conflicts, so we are looking for a home where she will be the only animal. ➡️ She is wary of people. In stressful situations or when feeling threatened, she may react with aggression due to fear. This is not malice or "dominance" - it's how she tries to cope with her emotions. LUSIA needs a calm, patient and consistent owner who has experience with difficult dogs or is willing to work under the guidance of a behaviorist. She is not a dog for families with children or for people looking for a problem-free companion. We are looking for a home that will accept her as she is, give her clear rules, predictable routine and time to build trust. With proper guidance, LUSIA has a chance to regain a sense of security and learn to function more peacefully alongside humans. LUSIA does not need an ideal home. She needs someone who will become her guide 👉 patient, responsible and willing to fight for the dog that never had a chance to feel truly safe before ❤️ 🪪 Born on 01/2019 ⚖️ weight 12kg 📆 has been in the shelter since 3.11.2025 (ID number 569/25) 🥺 LUSIA was adopted on 10.02.2026 and unfortunately returned from adoption on 8.06.2026. 🐾 She was secured during police intervention in Łódź at ul. Żeromskiego. 🩺 Complete vaccinations, post-surgery castration, clinically healthy.

LUSIA 🐶 szuka domu tymczasowego 🏠 z opcją domu stałego gdy już zostanie uregulowana jej sytuacja prawna. LUSIA trafiła do schroniska w wyniku czynności interwencyjnych Policji.

About Lusia

What life with Lusia looks like

Lusia is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Lodz in Lodz.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lusia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lusia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Lodz handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lusia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lusia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Lodz will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lusia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lusia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Lodz early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lusia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
