Lusy

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy · 3 months

Lusy was rescued in the year 2008 (!) as a three-month-old puppy together with her sister from a dumpster. Since then, no human has ever inquired about her, even though she is such a very special dog! That’s why we want to draw attention to Lusy again. Lusy is an extremely friendly and positive dog. She simply enjoys everything and everyone. Only cats are not among her friends. Lusy would also be a good fit for a family with children. Lusy lived most of her life on a property with her sister Nora. Eventually, Nora had the good fortune to find loving people in Germany and was able to experience what it means to have a family. Even though she didn’t have as much time left, Lusy was left alone. She had a strong bond with her sister for many years and had to process the loss. Her strength impresses the animal welfare workers the most! For Lusy never lost her smile or her cheerful character. Again and again, young dogs came to her foster home, which she welcomed with kindness.

About Lusy

What life with Lusy looks like

Lusy is a puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Pfotenhilfe Sachsen e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lusy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lusy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Pfotenhilfe Sachsen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lusy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lusy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Pfotenhilfe Sachsen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lusy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lusy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Pfotenhilfe Sachsen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lusy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
