Lux

Male · Adult · 6 years

Lux came to us along with his brother, Son. However, Son has already been warm on the couch in a home for a long time, while Lux is still waiting for his own home. Where does the name Lux come from? Because he is a real Luxtorpeda, whose engine is rarely overworked. On walks he races ahead and is everywhere. During his first photo session at the animal shelter, he managed to calm down for a while and show himself in the best light. We believe that there is potential in him for a great companion, who will not lack confidence after proper training using positive methods. Keep in mind that future caregivers will have some work to do in raising Lux and adapting him to life in a home. Interested in adoption must be aware that Karelian Bear Dogs have a hunting instinct and need a significant amount of exercise. Lux likes to sniff, explore the area, and look for adventures on walks. The offer of spending hours lounging in the comfort of home every day will probably not interest him, so we are looking for people with an active lifestyle. If you're looking for a companion for long walks, this dog is just for you! Considering the typical tendency of Karelian Bear Dogs to hunt, Lux cannot live with cats, rodents, birds, or even smaller dogs. Due to the excessive activity of our ward, we definitely do not recommend him to families with children. We want Lux to go to responsible people who are ready to meet his various needs and know the specifics of the breed, so we reserve the right to choose the best home.

PL·Show original

Bo to prawdziwa Luxtorpeda, której silniczek rzadko kiedy ulega wyeksploatowaniu. About Lux

What life with Lux looks like

Lux is a medium-sized adult dog waiting at Schronisko Na Paluchu in Warsaw.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Cannot live with cats, rodents, birds, or smaller dogs due to hunting instincts. Requires extensive exercise and training.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lux, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lux?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Na Paluchu handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lux on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lux if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Na Paluchu will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lux already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lux isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Na Paluchu early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lux and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
