Maddie &#8211

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Puppy · 4 months

Maddie is a very young female dog who has captured all hearts in Linares with her charm. She is open, cheerful, and friendly. Currently, she resides in ArcoNatura and is waiting to find her "own" people—those who are eager for an active, shared life and want to show a smart puppy the world. Maddie is about 45 cm tall and appears like a sporty mix, with Belgian blood (perhaps Malinois) possibly mixed in. This is no guarantee of what her ancestry holds, but it explains why Maddie not only loves cuddles but also wants to work and learn. With people, she shows affection and confidence. She seeks contact, welcomes closeness, and enjoys attention without being pushy. With other dogs, she is compatible, and she also gets along well with children. Additionally, she likes to play with toys and objects, which makes for a great starting point for shared training, fetch games, or head work. We do not know what happened to Maddie before she came into the care of our friends. The hungry puppy appeared one day on the streets of a nearby village. Some women took her in, kept her in foster care for a few days, informed the police, had her microchipped, and then brought her to our partners. If Maddie indeed has Belgian Shepherd blood, she likely brings with her exactly what many love about these dogs: athleticism, a love for learning, and the desire to "think along." Maddie clearly shows that she wants to be physically and mentally challenged—not 24/7, but regularly and meaningfully. Solo walks are not enough for her; she will be happy with nose work, search games, tricks, dummy training, or other positive training. Loving, consistent leadership, clear rules, and reliable routines are also important. But which puppy doesn't need that? With patience, humor, and a good mix of structure and affection, Maddie will develop into an excellent companion—attentive, closely bonded to her human, and ready to grow together. For Maddie, we wish for a home with people who enjoy movement and see training as relationship-building—preferably dog-experienced, but most importantly, willing to welcome a clever, athletic young puppy. A securely fenced yard would be nice, but is not necessary if there is enough mental stimulation and challenge. If you meet Maddie and show her how to subdue the neighborhood and eventually the whole world, we look forward to hearing from you (and Maddie will surely also be excited!). This is a young, adolescent dog.

DE·Show original

About Maddie &#8211

What life with Maddie &#8211 looks like

Maddie &#8211 is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Maddie &#8211, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maddie &#8211?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maddie &#8211 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maddie &#8211 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maddie &#8211 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maddie &#8211 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maddie &#8211 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
