Marley

Beagle · Male · Young · 1 year

Marley is a very, very sweet little man. He is affectionate and enjoys playing with toys. He likes training for tasty treats; however, he can be easily distracted at times. Marley has a playful nature that will no doubt make his future family laugh. He is building lovely relationships with his handlers and gains confidence in situations with people he trusts around him. He is a silly, goofy boy who can express his excitement by jumping up very high. Marley is currently in the process of gaining confidence in the vets & muzzle training to make vet visits in the future a lot less daunting for him. Could you offer Marley his quiet, caring, patient forever home? Meet Marley, a 1-year-old boy who would love a family that enjoys having a playful, bouncy boy who can be full of beans and have springs in his legs at times. Marley has not had the best of starts in life, so a family that is understanding of his worried nature at times would be his ideal match. His adopters should be happy to carry on his ongoing confidence-building with his vet handling. Marley has shown some signs of not coping in kennels by himself very well, so would like a home that has people around the majority of the time. Marley doesn't have to have a super experienced home; however, his family will need to be understanding that taking on a dog in adolescence can come with some cheeky behaviours and challenges. He could live with older secondary children in the home. Marley, however, should be the only dog in the home, due to being under-socialised and still learning how to play politely. He can have walking friends, though! His dream home would be in a more rural area that is quieter, with calm walking areas for him to enjoy with his new family. If Marley sounds like the dog for you, apply to adopt!

About Marley

What life with Marley looks like

Marley is a young adult beagle dog waiting at Dogs Trust Harefield in Harefield.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Marley, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Marley?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Dogs Trust Harefield handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Marley on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Marley if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Dogs Trust Harefield will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Marley already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Marley isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Dogs Trust Harefield early rather than rehoming privately; they know Marley and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
